Falls Avenue Resort has announced a new line-up of spectacular culinary experiences in Niagara Falls, including a Culinary Tour of Piedmont with Massimo Capra on Nov. 13, 2015. If you’re planning on embarking on this delicious culinary journey, here are three things to know about the amazing Italian region of Piedmont:
1. After Sicily, Piedmont is the second largest Italian region. It sits in the northwestern corner of Italy and borders both France and Switzerland. Piedmont is surrounded by the breathtaking Alps and has a very unique and beautiful landscape full of spectacular valleys, mountains, rivers, and lakes.
2. The region cultivates more than 50 varieties of grapes and produces the famous Barolo and Barbaresco wines. Because the region is located in the foothills of the Alps, fog from the mountains helps to ripen the region’s Nebbiolo grape.
3. Piedmont is known as the capital of the slow food movement and continues to preserve the tradition of hand-made, artisanal cuisine. It cultivates delicious white truffles each fall and is also known for introducing the world to delicious Agnolotti and Corzetti pasta.
